Most Anticipated Events of 2022

Due to the emergence of a pandemic in 2019, the next few years were not rich in sporting events. Those that did take place were closed to spectators. Many of us have managed to come to terms with this problem and here comes the joy – in 2022, the world begins to return to the way it used to be. This year, several highly anticipated sporting events will take place.

27 June – 10 July: The Wimbledon

Wimbledon is one of four Grand Slam tennis events. The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club is the irreplaceable organiser of the event. It is on the courts of this club that this tournament takes place. It’s a remarkable fact that the rules of the Wimbledon tournament have changed very little since it was founded in 1877. The two-week event will once again be the most anticipated spectator event on almost the entire planet. This is reflected in the annual telecast in more than 80 countries, the coverage by several thousand journalists and photographers. The competition is so prestigious that many VIPs, including members of the royal dynasty, come to watch the best matches in person.

In 2022, tennis players from around the world will converge on the renowned grass court for the 135th time in late June. The courts are located in the southwest of the UK capital and are ready to welcome more than 120 athletes. Getting tickets to either event in the tournament is extremely difficult. Traditionally tickets to Wimbledon go to the ten luckiest of people. First, the tickets are drawn amongst those who are prepared to pay the highest price for a ticket. They get a pass to the most authoritative competition. Another portion is given to a specialized ticketing website. These are not all the ways you can get a ticket. For example, you can look for it via accredited journalists, event investors, mobile apps, etc. If all of these avenues were unsuccessful, there is one last chance to get the long-awaited ticket. It consists of standing in a live line at the club’s ticket office in the early hours of the morning. Very often all tickets are sold out months in advance.

There are fairs on the grounds after the match. The most memorable things you can buy are the tennis balls your idols played with. The first rows often get used towels as trophies. You just have to be persistent and there is a good chance you will be heard. If you are waiting for an autograph as a trophy, try waiting for an athlete at the exit of the tennis court.

10-25 September: 2022 Asian Games

The next Asian Summer Games will take place in 2022. This sporting event has been held every four years for 70 years. It is attended exclusively by athletes and only from countries belonging to the Asian parts of the continent. The games were created to bring the countries together after World War II. The organizer of the Asian Games is the Asian Olympic Council. The International Olympic Committee, known to every athlete, oversees what happens in the stadium.

The location of the competition changes every time. The last time, in 2018, the Asian Games were hosted by Indonesia. Back then, Palembang and Jakarta were the event cities. This year, the competition between Asian countries will be held in Hangzhou, China. The main centre of the event will be Hangzhou Sports Park. The decision was made in 2015. According to the approved application, some games will also be held in Ningbo, Shaosin, and Xyghjou. Athletes from 45 countries will take part. They, in turn, will compete to win in 46 sports, including badminton, rowing, squash, sports dancing, etc. The Chinese National Olympic Committee has announced that three specially trained robots will be the mascot for these competitions. They are meant to represent the combined features of the city, Chinese traditions and sports games in general.

12 November – 18 December: 2022 FIFA World Cup

Football fans, rejoice! This year you have a great opportunity to enjoy such an incredible event as the FIFA World Cup! There were 9 countries in the race to host the game and only 5 of them made it to the final. After four rounds of voting, it was almost unanimously decided where to host the championship.

For the first time ever, it will be held in the Middle East. It will be hosted by Qatar in the last month of autumn, with the final to be held even later, in December. The organisers of the competition this time had to depart from the tradition of holding it in May and July. The reason for this is the unbearable heat during this period. It is noteworthy, but many experts objected to the Championships because of the timing. They believe this event can cause trouble for the national football leagues. The culmination of this unique event will be the final. It will be held at the Lusaila National Stadium.

It is very difficult to get tickets for the World Cup. Requests are numerous and the number of tickets is limited to the number of seats. In the first sale phase alone, more than 800,000 tickets were sold out. You can only buy admission documents from the official FIFA website. They are divided into several types:

A ticket for a particular match. Their price is divided into four categories

A conditional ticket, namely you can choose your favourite team’s match from the second round. The cost varies between three price categories

  • Tickets for fans. You can buy tickets for a specific team’s games in the group stage
  • Tickets for true football fans. They are invited to buy tickets for four matches at once
  • Special tickets are available for disabled supporters.

If you are resident in another country, once you have purchased your tickets, consider purchasing the special Hayya card. Only with this card can you enter the country and find accommodation. Also, without this card, your ticket to the stadium will have no validity whatsoever. This event, as usual, will soon be the occasion for betting shops to start accepting bets. With your intuition, you can even make money in this tournament.
